The Chor der Kulturen der Welt (CKW) was founded at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) in the summer of 2007. From the outset, the idea was to develop a new and unique repertory. Our repertory includes arrangements specifically written for us, as well as projects and programs we develop ourselves or with external musicians. Exploring musical limits is at the core of our repertory.

The input of international artists is essential to CKW. Collaborations with a diversity of musicians such as Hauschka, Justus Köhncke, Ari B. Meyers or Tomi Simatupang continue to present the choir with new challenges while enriching its repertoire. Here you can find a summary of the most interesting collaborations.

Since its foundation in 2007, CKW has been pursuing a variety of projects. The repertory ranges from pure concert programs (“Up in the Woods,” “Heimat(en) [Home(s)] – What is it?”) to sound installations (“Fragen an das Licht” [Questions to the light] at the Berlin Atonal Festival) to slightly quirky performances (“Reconstructing Howard Carpendale” or “Doofe Musik” [Stupid music]).
